The New Zealand Pacific Business Council, in conjunction with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, hosted the ADB Transport infrastructure webinar with ADB Director of Transport and Communications, Dong-Kyu Lee. This webinar, held on Wednesday 3rd November, was the final of three in our ADB webinar series.

The webinar began with introductions from NZPBC Chairman, Daniel Ludlam and NZTE Trade Commissioner Pacific, David Dewar. Daniel Ludlam introduced our guest speaker and facilitated the webinar.

This presentation focused on ADB transport operations in the Pacific region. Lee presented ADB’s 2030 Operational Priorities which look to solve issues such as poverty, climate resilience and regional cooperation. Lee then showed how they were implementing these policies into the Pacific region with a focus on connecting remote areas, creating more liveable cities and increasing sustainability.

Lee gave an overview of the major transport projects currently underway to improve the ports and harbours of multiple Pacific nations. There was also a lot of attention given to future projects that ADB will undertake and the opportunities for firms to participate in. These opportunities span across the entire Pacific region.

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dong-Kyu Lee for an extensive presentation of ADB’s transport operations in the Pacific.

The next NZPBC event is the “The Pacific Update” on 2 December where we have some exciting projects to announce moving into 2022.  To keep updated on the Pacific from NZPBC, follow our LinkedIn page or visit our website to join the council.
