The New Zealand Pacific Business Council, in conjunction with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, hosted the ADB Water Webinar with Principal Urban Development Specialist, Steve Blaik. This webinar, held on Wednesday 20th October, was the second of three in our ADB webinar series.

The webinar began with introductions from NZPBC Executive, Devin Brown and NZTE Trade Commissioner Pacific, David Dewar. GHD Pacific Director Wijnand Udema introduced our guest speaker and facilitated the webinar.

This presentation focused on ADB water operations in the Pacific region. ADB operations cover 14 Pacific nations, with a wide range of projects currently occurring which Blaik explained individually. Blaik provided a thorough analysis of the Pacific region with a special focus on the challenges that arise with their operations. Being an isolated region that has relatively small GDPs, Blaik explained how ADB addressed these challenges in order to operate effectively in the Pacific.

The goals of ADB that were raised in the energy webinar were echoed here. Blaik emphasised the importance of providing sustainable services that were accessible to all. He also gave a layout of ADB’s water projects moving forward as well as suggestions for those looking to conduct business in the Pacific.

We would like to extend a warm thank you to Steve Blaik for an extensive presentation of ADB’s water operations in the Pacific. We would also like to thank Wijnand Udema, David Dewar and NZTE Australia Pacific Market Manager Scott James for their work in making this event a success. The NZPBC & NZTE will host the final ADB webinar next week on the 3rd of November. For more details on this webinar series and to keep updated on the Pacific from NZPBC follow our LinkedIn page.
